Hi there, SEAMO! I'm Sarah, SEAMO's Communications Officer, proudly joining the team in June 2024. I know what you're thinking — wait, didn't I miss the chance to say hello earlier? You're absolutely right. I came in a little quietly, but since comms are my jam, I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself to our community. So, whether you met me at the retreat, exchanged emails, or had absolutely no idea who I am until now, here I am — Sarah, your go-to person for all things communications.

Why SEAMO? A Perfect Fit, if I Do Say So Myself

As SEAMO steps into the new year, we’re excited to introduce Natalie Shaw, our new Executive Assistant and Events Officer. A Queen’s University alumna and Kingston native, Natalie brings a rich background in strategic planning, project management, and business relations from higher education, finance, and startup sectors. 

Get to know the interim leaders steering SEAMO into an exciting new chapter. From their vision for SEAMO’s future to their unique hobbies (building kayaks, anyone?), Dr. Stephen Vanner and Mr. Patrick Legresley bring a wealth of expertise and energy to their roles.

We’re excited to introduce Behrouz (Behr) Ehsani, SEAMO’s new Senior Data Analyst! With a rich 17-year background in statistics, healthcare data, and biostatistics, Behr is set to bring invaluable insights to our SEAMO physicians. From data quality checks to predictive modeling, his work will support smarter decision-making and enhanced patient care.

The Vascular Surgery eConsult group is transforming patient care across the vast Southeast region by harnessing the power of eConsult services. Spearheaded by Drs. David Zelt and Michael Yacob, this initiative allows primary care providers (PCPs) to consult with vascular specialists remotely, minimizing the need for in-person appointments and ensuring patients receive timely care without the burden of long-distance travel. 

Recently named one of Kingston’s 40 Under 40, a leading interventional cardiologist and associate professor at Queen’s University is advancing cardiac care while mentoring the next generation of physicians. Dr. Amer Johri has been a dedicated member of the Department of Medicine at Queen's University for 15 years, significantly contributing to the field as the director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Network.

Dr. Tracy Cupido has been a member of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine for the past four years and came to the field from a variety of different backgrounds.

Dr. Ameer Farooq is a colorectal surgeon who joined SEAMO in March 2023. What you might not know about him though is he has another passion: podcasting.
